Refractometer for measuring operating fluids and AdBlue
A refractometer is a device that allows
to determine the physical properties of a liquid by measuring the refractive index at the boundary of the medium. With a refractometer
it is possible to determine the degree of battery charge, the freezing point of coolants based on propylene glycol or ethylene glycol, the freezing point of windshield washer fluids, and also the concentration of the AdBlue additive.

Liquid measurement:- 1. Take a small amount of liquid with a pipette.
- 2. Lift the cover plate and apply 2-3 drops of liquid to the prism of the device.
- 3. Fold the cover plate back so that the measured liquid is evenly and bubble-free spread over the prism surface.
- 4. After 30 seconds, direct the cover plate to the light source and look into the eyepiece.
- 5. The image must be focused using the focusing ring. And read the position of the light/shadow transition on the appropriate scale indicating the properties of the given liquid.
