Refractometer for measuring operating fluids
A refractometer is a device that
allows determination of the physical properties of a liquid by measuring the refractive index at the interface of the medium. With the refractometer it is possible to determine the
battery charge level, the freezing point of coolants based on propylene glycol or ethylene glycol, and also the freezing point of windshield washer fluids. The product is supplied
complete and requires no further assembly.

Measuring procedure:- 1. Use the pipette to take a small sample of the liquid.
- 2. Lift the cover plate and apply 2–3 drops of the liquid onto the instrument prism.
- 3. Close the cover plate so that the measured liquid spreads evenly and without bubbles over the prism surface.
- 4. After 30 seconds, point the cover plate toward a light source and look through the eyepiece.
- 5. Focus the image using the focusing ring and read the position of the light/dark boundary on the appropriate scale that indicates the properties of the liquid.
