A quality refractometer / Brix meter with automatic temperature compensation is designed primarily for measuring sugar content in fruit concentrates/juices, syrups, jams, condensed milk, etc. in the range 0 - 32 % Brix. A refractometer is an instrument for measuring the refractive index of a light beam, which can be used to determine the composition of liquid mixtures or the purity of substances. Brix is used to measure the concentration of dissolved solids (mainly sugar) in fruit, vegetables, juices, musts, non-alcoholic beverages, etc. % Brix is a universal unit for sugar content based on sucrose (beet sugar), characterizing sucrose concentration in mass percent, 1 % Brix = 1 g sucrose (beet sugar) in 100 g of e.g. must. ATC / automatic temperature compensation system (no calibration required at temperatures from 0°C to 30°C).

Measurement method:

• Measuring with the refractometer is very simple: just place a drop of the sample on the angled optical prism of the instrument, close the prism cover (the liquid spreads), look toward the light through the eyepiece of the instrument, adjust focus if necessary, and read the sugar content (%) on the appropriate scale. The field of view immediately shows the sugar value according to the boundary between the illuminated and non-illuminated areas. Large, easy-to-read scale for sugar content in % (0 – 32 % Brix) with focusing adjustment.
